Unbroken shows porcelain tea sets with decals of patterns from security envelopes in various stages of breaking. Broken and unbroken cups and saucers are laid out as conflicting evidence with projected footage of identical sets of cups and saucers being unbroken by playing the footage of cups and saucers dropping and breaking in reverse.
The patterns used in envelopes for things such as bills and foreclosures reference the desire to un-open unfortunate news. This is compared with the impossible desire to reverse or undo the breaking of a cup and saucer.
